Are you using the latest version?

Software upgrades for our customers are included at no additional charge with the quarterly support and maintenance fees, but here at Carolina Software we find that many customers take the attitude "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"  That's fine by us, but just to make sure you aren't missing out on some feature that would make your life easier, check this page from time to time to see what's new. If you need a newer version, please contact technical support.

  • Testing for customers over their credit limit now occurs in real time.

What's new in Version 7.0

  • WasteWIZARD checks for vehicles past their expiration date.
  • Support added for signature capture devices.

What's new in Version 6.7

  • WasteWIZARD can now use two printers for each transaction. The usual way this works is to have one printer accessible to the driver and a second printer inside the scale house recording activity as it occurs on the Wizard lane.
  • Several changes were made to WasteWORKS files to support integration with WasteWALKER, the new handheld waste ticketing system. Materials, customers, and vehicles can be flagged as being downloadable into WasteWALKER.
  • Origins can now be entered into the ticket screen using a short origin lookup key to cut down on typing.
  • Customer and material records may be marked as "hidden" from ticketing in WasteWORKS. This allows you to continue to keep these accounts on file for billing or other reporting purposes, but prevents weigh masters from inadvertently using obsolete codes.
  • WasteWIZARD has been enhanced to support many more options on keypads: the driver may select to view prompts in English or Spanish, for example. You may configure WasteWIZARD to optionally require a user password, hauler validation is now an option, and support for job numbers has been added.
  • Unattended ticketing of liquid waste is now possible with WasteWIZARD in conjunction with supported pump equipment. Contact us for equipment information.

What's new in Version 6.6

  • Additional information has been added to the Batch Close Report: Weighmaster Summary, Check Register and Grid Summary.
  • WasteWIZARD has been redesigned to prevent accidental multiple card swipes on card readers.
  • WasteWIZARD now reports the vehicle ID# in any error messages.
  • Preprinted statements and invoices now include Date Printed information.
  • The Financial Activity Report can now be run to only list fees without listing other charge sales.
  • If a description for " LATE CHG " is set up in the materials file, then invoice and balance forward statements now print that description.
  • Voiding any ticket in the current batch now results in the operator and time being recorded and printed on the Batch Close Report for audit purposes.
  • WasteWIZARD now uses the material grid, or if none specified, the default grid in the control file.
  • The batch close operation can now send the upload files using email if email is available.
  • The Batch Close Report now shows tax totals at the end of the report.
  • The Recalculate Tonnages utility can now be run within customer type ranges.
  • WasteWIZARD now supports VINs longer than four characters for RFID tags.

What's new in Version 6.5

  • There is now an option to print the hauler name on tickets instead of the contents of User Defined Field #4.
  • The ticket screen now displays the hauler name if the hauler is different from the customer being billed.
  • Taxes are now calculated based on taxable quantity rather than on billing quantity. This allows you to tax by the cubic yard while billing by the ton, for example.
  • The Customer Financial Summary now displays the customer name.
  • Preprinted tickets now print the check number for payments on account.
  • Serial ports greater than COM9: may now be used with Windows 2000 and USB serial hubs.
  • The Vehicle Frequency, Vehicle Analysis, and Permit Expiration Reports now accept a 2-character vehicle type range.

What's new in Version 6.4

  • You can now specify two sheets of laser tickets at the customer level while using one sheet as the default for the site. This allows you to easily print additional copies for those customers requiring them.
  • A new Export to Excel utility has been added to the Reports menu. Now you can export a large subset of WasteWORKS historical data to Microsoft Excel using the fastest data access paths.
  • For open invoice accounting, a new field was added to the customer record to specify the number of days past an invoice's date before that invoice is considered past due. This gives you the flexibility to set up different terms for different customers.
  • Security is now implemented on a per-user basis. Each user in the system can be set up with his own menu level access grid.
  • Customer account number and customer type filters have been added to the General Ledger Distribution report.

What's new in Version 6.3

  • All WasteWORKS products have been upgraded to a faster graphical user interface. Programs load faster, and screens appear and disappear quicker.
  • Reports, both on-screen and printed, now render sharper.
  • Optional hauler validation has been added. A hauler/vehicle cross-reference file has been added to WasteWORKS. This allows sites to set up specific hauler and vehicle combinations that are allowed, so only approved haulers for those vehicles can be billed for waste.
  • The Current Batch Summary now shows previous balance, current change in A/R, and effective balance in the By Account # view.
  • There is new late fee calculation logic. Late fees can now be calculated using customer-specific rates and minimums. Customer late fee percents and minimums override any site-wide late fee percents and minimums set up in the control file.
  • The contracts file now supports beginning and ending dates so contract pricing can be set up to kick in at some point in the future and expire on time without further user intervention.
  • WasteWORKS has added support for signal lights and gates. The devices are set up in the control file, and they are activated when tickets are either held or finished.
  • More information can now be stored in the customer file: contact name, fax number and email address. There is also an Email speed button to quickly generate an email message to a customer.
  • The customer file can also now store deposit collected and minimum deposit required information for credit balance accounting. If the deposit minimum is not zero, the ticketing operation will restrict customers whose balances have fallen below the minimum credit required. Preprinted balance forward statements will also print information about minimum balance required, current balance, and minimum due for those accounts.
  • Beginning and ending times of day can now be specified for materials. These times are enforced during ticketing.
  • Serial tickets now print tax information.
  • Invoices can now optionally print the previous and new account balance on each invoice.
  • WasteWORKS can now track total tonnage by customer at each batch close. There is also a utility provided to recalculate customer tonnages for a given range of dates.

What's new in Version 6.2

  • For payment and adjustments, the Save button is now the default push button. This is, the Enter key can be used to save and payment or an adjustment once the minimum amount of data has been entered.
  • On graphs, the Print button prints immediately to the default Windows printer.
  • The Grid Summary Report allows filtering by grids, sites, accounts, account types, materials and/or material types.
  • The underlying printing engine was changed to provide better font scaling for some printers.
  • On the ticketing screen, the default customer for a vehicle or roll-off is only picked up for the first time through that ticket.
  • On the adjustment screen, the ticket quantity is calculated from the other values entered and is provided as the default, which the user can override if necessary.
  • Changes were made to the program exit logic to prevent accidental exiting from WasteWORKS while the batch close operation is in progress.
  • A Hold button was added to the ticketing screen to make data entry easier.
  • User level security has been implemented for reports.
  • The Current Batch Summary now includes an option to view by grid.
  • The Load Tickets operation now permits tickets with site codes other than the current site to be uploaded. This was implemented to support multi-tiered accounting situations where a site uploads to a division which in turn uploads to a central site.
  • The Customer Financial Summary now displays the customer name in the spreadsheet file.
  • The General Ledger Report allows the seletion of transaction types similar to the Financial Activity Report.
  • Voiding a weight-based material subtracts that ticket's weight from the site's current total weight.
  • When adding a batch of new users, you can now use the Next and Previous buttons to move through the users file.
  • The Vehicle Analysis Report now reports weights in tons rather than pounds.

What's new in Version 6.1

  • Tickets now print to serial printers based on which scale was used.
  • Serial receipt tickets can now be used as an alternative to preprinted or plain paper tickets. This is useful in high volume sites because serial tickets print faster.
  • On the ticketing screen, the job file pops up automatically if the vehicle's regular account is not the account to bill.
  • The Date/Time Report has an additional line in the report heading.
  • An additional index order is maintained for the vehicle file to provide enhanced functionality for WasteWIZARD.
  • If control file and/or customer file indicate that prices should be hidden, they are also hidden on the ticket screen as well as on the printed tickets.
  • The Change dialog displayed for cash customers when a ticket is completed shows the deposit amount previously collected.
  • Deposit amounts are calculated based on a vehicle's "tare for deposit" value.
  • There is a new option to process a batch close without printing the Batch Close Report.
